1 What is the procedure for arranging the Tibet travel permit through local Tibet travel agency online?
As you can't apply for a Tibet travel permit by yourself, you have to contact a by an authorized Tibet travel agency. The procedures for applying for a Tibet travel permit are as follows:
1)You need book Tibet tour package and design a Tibet itinerary with local Tibet travel agency.
2)You need to obtain a Chinese visa, and then send your scanned copy of your Chinese visa and passport to the travel agency by email.
3)After a few days, you will obtain a scanned copy of Tibet travel permit or a genuine copy of the Tibet travel permit via email or courier service.
Note: If you go to Tibet by plane, you will need a genuine copy of Tibet travel permit. Don’t worry, our local staff will send it to you on your boarding airport. If you go to Tibet by train, you will only need a scanned copy of Tibet travel permit and we will send it to you by email.
2 How long will it take for the Tibet travel permit application process?
Usually speaking, the Tibet travel permit can be issued within three working days, but if the travel destination requires a military permit and Alien’s Travel Permit, it will take more than two weeks. As a result, you’d better confirm your trip at least one-month before arriving in Tibet to avoid any emergency things.
3 What type of Tibet travel needs the documents such as Military permit, Alien’s Travel Permit, and Foreign Affairs Permit?
Tibet travel destinations need both Military permit and Foreign Affairs Permit such as Mount Kailash tour, Sichuan or Yunnan-Tibet Overland Tour, Tibet-Kashgar Overland Tour and Chamdo and Pomi.
Tibet travel destinations need Alien’s Travel Permit including Tsedang, Shigatse, Nyingchi Region, and Chamdo Region.
4 Do I need to send a photo when applying for a Tibet travel permit? If so, in what size?
No, you are not required to send us a photo. However, you may provide us with your relevant information and documents before application. You just need to give us your scanned copy of your Chinese visa and passport by email.
5 How much it cost for applying for a Tibet travel permit?
As you can’t apply for a Tibet travel permit on your own, you need to book Tibet tour with a local Tibet travel agency. We can provide the Tibet travel permit for free after you book our tour package.
6 I will come to Kathmandu soon and need to apply for a China visa there. Even if I'm only a tourist visa in Nepal, not a permanent resident in Nepal, can I do that?
Yes, you can apply for a China visa in Nepal even if you are not a permanent resident in Nepal. But you need to apply for a China group visa instead of China visa through Chinese Embassy in Nepal. If you want to travel to Tibet, you also need to apply for a Tibet travel permit. The Chinese government showed that foreigners must obtain the Tibet travel permit to enter Tibet, they can’t get the permit on their own, but only through the travel agency in Tibet.
