How to get Tibet Permit from mainland of China

As a mysterious oriental country, China has always been attractive to foreigners. It has an ancient history of 5000 years. In recent years, with the development of the economy at a high speed, many foreigners come to China for business, tourism, work, study and so on. China has undoubtedly become one of the most popular tourist destinations for travelers from all over the world.

The area of China is 9 million 600 thousand square kilometers, you can see different landscapes. However, due to the complex political in Tibet, foreigner travelers who want to travel to Tibet need to apply for Tibet Permit which is issued by the Tibet Tourism Bureau. Before you plan to travel to Tibet, you need to book a Tibet tour with one of Tibet travel agencies to get Tibet Permit.

So, how do you get a Tibet Permit from the mainland of China?

1)First of all, you also need to reserve a tour from a local Tibet travel agency in advance. According to the regulations of the National Tourism Administration, foreign tourists, Taiwan tourists and overseas Chinese are not allowed to travel freely to Tibet. No matter how many people they have, how many days they stay in Tibet, they must organize and plan group Tibet tours.

You need to know where to apply for a Tibet Permit in mainland China. From July 1, 2007, the Tibet Tourism Bureau in the country offices such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou is not allowed to handle Tibet Permit for foreigners. It was issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau. You need a local authorized Tibet travel agency to get a Tibet Permit from Tibet Tourism Bureau for you.

2) You need to apply for a Chinese visa in your home country in advance, such as L visa, if it’s a business visa (F visa), you need to provide work certificate. Kindly noted that foreign diplomats and journalists visa are not allowed to Tibet.

3) Please send your Chinese visa and passport copies, Tibet itinerary, travel time and so on to your Tibet travel agency by email, you will get Tibet permit at least 7 working days (If you go to Mt.kailash, it will be at least a month) before the tour starts. Although only need 7 days to verify and issue the ratification, but considering the related arrangements for your flight/ train tickets, hotels, tour guide, the vehicle, you may book the tour as soon as possible.
